New Delhi, November 17: Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha on Tuesday made a controversial demand of removing Mahatma Gandhi’s picture from Indian currency notes. The demand was made by the members of Hindu Mahasabha while commemorating ‘bal divas’ on November 15, the day when Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse and Narayan Dattatraya Apte were hanged. The commemorating ceremony was held at Hindu Mahasabha’s office in Meerut’s Sharda road on Tuesday.
On 15 November 1949, Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte were hanged simultaneously at Ambala jail, few days after they were convicted for killing Mahatma Gandhi. Since then Hindu Mahasabha, a wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and many other wings attached to the right-wing organisation RSS believe that Mahatma Gandhi was involved in the partition of India due to which Godse and Apte killed him.
